A Sort of Homecoming...

With apologies to U2. Jeff used the word "reunion" to describe the great feelings we had on Day 1 and that continued today. I'm calling it a homecoming. Though it was only a week in 2011 it was amazing to see another world and especially the world of an orphan or a refugee or a runaway. Those are the kids we have met. What we see this year is a sort of second home. The kids knew we were coming and looked forward to it. They brought around the new kids, hugged us (including guy/handshake hugs) all in all they welcomed enthusiastically. The ladies were making the coffee drinkers coffee. We had lunch today prepared by the staff-a Macedonian honor. We know the staff now too. It was comfortable and familiar just like home. Our newest team members filled some very big shoes. They have been fabulous. They already are having those same feelings we did last year. It's a group of special kids who for at least a little while feel that way when we are there. For all the family and friends who supported us financially, spiritually and just by being our family and friends, thank you! You have given us a far bigger gift than we can give to these kids. At least though we feel at home and for a short time, I think they have a small sense of home. Finally, thanks Steve, Elizabeth, Theresa, Mark, Jennnifer, Jill, Mary, Nathan and especially Jeff; who said he was coming back and I should too, for being a wonderful force of God's grace! -Dan
