How great is our God?

On Tuesday night, our team attended a special event at SoulCraft Church in Skopje, Macedonia. We heard George Verwer of Operation Mobilization speak and we worshiped alongside our brothers and sisters in Christ. One of the songs we sang was "How Great is Our God" and the lyrics have been reverberating in my head and heart ever since. This is the first Globalx trip for my wife, Jenn, and I. Although we'd heard all of the stories from our veteran team members from last year, we didn't really know what to expect when we showed up at the orphanage. Seeing their young faces light up moved our hearts in a big way. The psalmist asks God to "Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed." in Psalm 82:3 and we've seen evidence of God doing just that. These kids are having the time of their lives as we share God's love for them through sports, crafts, snacks, pictures and a pretty freak'n awesome zip line. I do have one prayer request. Please pray for Dennis. He's a sixteen-year-old orphan who is very bright and a great athlete. Steve and I had the opportunity to share the gospel with him yesterday and I believe God will use that conversation to work on his heart. His mom is a Muslim and he's been exposed to Christianity through foster homes he lived in before coming to the orphanage. He knows enough about both Christianity and Islam to realize that they can't both be true. We prayed for God to reveal Himself to him and he was thankful for our prayers. He expressed an interest in having his own Macedonian Bible so our friends here are delivering it to him tomorrow. We serve a great and mighty God and I wish I knew the words to express the awe I feel seeing him show up here in Macedonia with these orphans. May God bless you who are praying for us and may he continue to defend the cause of the weak and fatherless. Mark
